Build Backyard Birdhouses – Have Fun Attracting Feathered Friends

Believe it or not, you can build backyard birdhouses quickly and easily, even if you have minimal construction skills. In fact, it’s such a simple project, you could get the whole family involved and spend a rainy afternoon building simple, yet charming and cozy houses for the birds in your backyard. Want to know how? Read on to discover how easy and fun it is to create your very own collection of birdhouses.

To build a back yard birdhouse, you should first decide what type of birds you want to attract. Every species of bird is different and has particular needs and preferences when it comes to the bird houses it will inhabit. Start by making a list of the birds in your area, and then research them online or at your local library. If you’re not particularly interested in attracting any specific birds, you can skip this last step and move on to finding a kit or a pattern to use in your construction.

A Birdhouse Kit? Or Birdhouse Blueprints?

Mane people aren’t sure whether they should use a birdhouse kit, or simply purchase bird house blueprints to help guide them in building their birdhouse. Both have advantages and disadvantages, depending on what you’re looking for in your new birdhouse. If you are hoping to create an intricate, ornate house, you may want to try using a kit.

Kits come with all the necessary materials, patterns, directions and tips that will help you tremendously throughout your project. They’re easy to use and are extremely beneficial to those of you with limited construction skills. Unfortunately, that can also be a little pricey. Blueprints on the other hand, are much cheaper than bird house kits.

In fact, many birdhouse plans can be downloaded for free off the internet! Unfortunately, they are simply guides and do not include directions or steps to follow during construction. They’re generally better for people who have built birdhouses before and who know the process and steps that must be taken; however having said that, when you aren’t given the exact steps to follow, as you are in a kit, you’re free to be as original as you like!

Whether you choose to use birdhouse kits or blueprints to create your new birdhouse, you should try to be as creative as possible. There are so many styles and designs out there that the possibilities are endless! So be unique and let your imagination guide you. You’ll find that this is a fun, quick project that will leave you feeling proud of your handiwork and ingenuity.
