Outdoor Decorative Flags – Durable For All Weather Conditions

Outdoor decorative flags are a popular way to spruce up the exterior of your home by adding color and texture. Depending on where you live, you will want your outdoor decorative flag to be able to withstand the varying weather conditions of your particular city. Most manufacturers have taken varying weather conditions into consideration and have a variety of materials from which flags are made.

An outdoor decorative flag is only as good as its fabric. Some fabrics are better suited for backdrops, while others are better for walls, buildings, or other architectural markets. If you are seeking an outdoor flag to accent your home then you should consider a nylon fabric. The 200 denier nylon fabric is currently one of the more superior all-weather fabrics for outdoor banners and flags. This material is three times heavier than some of the standard nylon fabrics that flags are made from and it retains screen printed flags images well.

Most garden flags are made with HT (70 denier high tenacity) nylon. This sturdy, yet lightweight material is probably one of the most popular for standard outdoor flags. Its breezy material is perfect for displaying images outside your home and any image can easily adorn and decorate it. The light texture of the material enables it to gently sway in the breeze and it’s easy to clean on days when it’s rainy and muddy.

Another popular choice for achieving a good quality decorative flag to display outdoors is the hand sewn 200D nylon fabric. This particular fabric is not only very strong and sturdy, but it is available in a wide range of colors. The reason why sewn flags are so popular is because they are often either appliquéd, or sewn with flat-felled seams. This then allows the material to be either embroidered, or painted, with your favorite image and creates a very effective exterior decoration.

Tips – Choosing Colors For Your Outdoor Flag

When it comes to choosing colors, or designs, for your outdoor ornamental banner there are a variety of elements to keep in mind. The first thing you must do is plan your design of colors. Usually, this means that you need to consider the color of your home and the contrasting of light and dark colors. Essentially, if your home is a dark color, you wouldn’t want to choose dark colors for your flag; similarly, if your home is a lighter shade, then you would want bright, rich colors so that it stands out.

Another element to keep in mind is the accent trim color. If you are choosing a light, or white colored flag then you should consider using an accent trim color to pick up, or highlight, one of the design colors. This will add some punch to your flag and allow the design to be seen better overall. By the same token, you should avoid white trim on a dark colored flag. Adding a white trim will make your flag look smaller than it actually is.

Lastly, when choosing colors it is always better to go with a bright, vibrant color palette as opposed to pastel colors. The brighter the colors the less fading you will have to worry about over a longer period of time.

Decorative flags are a nice addition to any home. When selecting your exterior banner, keep in mind the colors that make up your home and the surrounding elements. These factors will all come into play when it’s time to display your work of art.
