December 13, 2004 Building A Greenhouse With PVC – Economical Greenhouses Built To Last
Building a greenhouse with PVC is one of the fastest and most economical ways to have a green house up and running in your backyard. Not only that, PVC greenhouses are some of the most durable and resilient green houses around. You can only benefit from building one in your yard. Not only that, the construction of one is a simple, fun project. Building a greenhouse with polycarbonate is also an easy project, especially since there are so many great ones that come in kits. The kits provide you with basically everything you’ll need for your greenhouse. Moreover, the piping and polycarbonate just clip together, resulting in fast and convenient assembly! PVC green houses come in 2 basic styles. The first being a greenhouse made with PVC piping, covered over by a polyvinyl fabric. The vinyl material looks a little like a shower curtain material and once it is positioned over the piping, it is secured to the PVC structure. Poly is totally water-proof and will keep your plants and seedlings safe and dry from the environment. This type of greenhouse is extremely easy to assemble; you’ll have it up within a matter of hours. The other design is also made form PVC piping, but the sides and roof are made from polycarbonate, which is a hard, glass-like material. Polycarbonate is completely shatterproof and is excellent for maintaining an even and ideal temperature inside a greenhouse. What Type Of PVC Greenhouse Is Best?Assembling any type of PVC greenhouse is quite straightforward. They’re all reasonably economical and are simple to construct. The only real benefit of building one from polycarbonate, rather than vinyl, is that polycarbonate is a hard material and therefore more resistant to weather. The glass-like product will stand up to driving rain and winter storms and won’t break if hit by falling branches. Polyvinyl is a pliable material and therefore more susceptible to being crushed, however if you don’t live in an area where weather storms are an issue, you’ll likely be just fine with regular vinyl or glass in your greenhouse. Although it is hard not to ignore the cost issues of replacement glass, even if your children (or your neighbor's children) accidentally kick a ball into your glass sided green house you are looking at a costly repair. No matter what style of green house you choose (mini greenhouse, lean to, hobby, portable or a large scale structure), if you build a PVC greenhouse in your yard, you’ll surely be happy with the results. They’re uncomplicated and easy to assemble, while also being extremely economical. Head down to your local home hardware store or check them out online. PVC greenhouses could be just what you need.
